Who We Are?
Silver HealthTech is a free community initiative founded by Ivan Lam and Emily Tan. Ivan from the financial industry and Emily, an experienced eye care professional created this community to support seniors aged 60 and above in becoming more aware of their health and technology needs in everyday life.

We started this initiative because we noticed that many seniors today face real challenges in their daily lives. For some, using smartphones or digital apps can feel overwhelming and confusing. At the same time, many seniors are unfamiliar with simple yet important health practices that can make a big difference in their daily well-being.

We’ve guided our members through questions about eye health, scam alerts, and mobile use - always with patient, practical advice. Every question is met with care, because no one should feel alone in learning something new.
We are grateful to have had our very first sharing session in church, where we introduced practical health and technology tips for seniors. It was a meaningful opportunity to share our knowledge, foster connection, and make a positive impact within the community.

We also hosted an exclusive AWS Organ Screening session for our small group of seniors from our community in collaboration with BWL. This initiative was part of our ongoing mission to support seniors in staying proactive about their health and overall wellbeing. AWS is a non-invasive health screening designed to provide an overview of how different organs in the body are functioning. The screening aims to help detect potential health concerns early so individuals can take preventive steps and seek medical advice if necessary.

I would like to thank Ivan and Emily for inviting me to this group. Ivan eye opener for my wife and myself, especially about technical jargon such as phising in this modern day world which we have never heard it before. It helps us to understand about being scammed. It's rather scary unknowingly our personal details fall into hands of strangers. It causes havoc and may wreck our family. It enlighten our daily life.
On the other hand, I would like to thank God and thank Emily for enhancing us with more knowledge about awareness and how to take care of our eyes, the window to the world. As we age, our eyes need more attention. We understand better as other members in the group share about their eye problem, and how to take care and prevent incidents in future.

I feel confident now that in future if I shd encounter any health tech problems, I have them to go to for help. I hope seniors like me who hv problems with this tech age society to join us n we can all learn together n have a better understanding of whats going on in our society.
